Ok, so I have had the radio for a short time and I am having alot of fun with the unit. I now have about 13 local repeaters programmed into the unit and I am still making some adjustments for a lack of better words.
I will say that I need to build an external antenna if I really want to get some good distance out of this device.
The radio has five watts of output but only a small factory antenna. The antenna is the most important part of an amateur radio set-up so I am not expecting much from a hand held with an antenna this small. But, I am doing ok with it here in town so it will be fine for the time being.
Once I get more involved I am sure I will get a bigger rig but this Wouxun KG-UVD1P is doing a fine job at the moment.
