I know that this is old news but I just wanted to share my thoughts on the Steve Jobs books.
I will admit that I did not read the book. But instead I purchased the book from Audible as an audio book. Now, I will say that I do still prefer actually reading books as my main source of input. But listening to a book does have it's place and I found it to be very entertaining and I enjoyed it alot. I normally cook dinner for my family and found this to be a great time to listen to the audio books.
Now back to the Steve Jobs book. I found it amazing. I was really taken by some of the stories of how everyday with Steve was like a of a roller coaster. I would have loved to have met him and probably would have enjoyed working for him. One thing that I found the most enjoyable was his diet. He mainly lived on a diet of fruit and some Vegan foods. He referred to himself as a "Fruitarian". I found this most interesting. I also found it enjoyable that he was normally barefoot or that he had almost no furniture in his house and sleep on a mattress in the middle of the bedroom floor. He even refused to place a license plate on his car. I found it very refreshing to say the least.
I must say that I believe the reason I am so taking by Steve Jobs is his ideas and thoughts on manufacturing. I started working in manufacturing right out of high school and spent almost 15 years of life in that world. So, I really appreciate his dream of how something should be built. When I look at a Mac Book I am simply in awe of the fit and finish in regards to the physical build of the machine. I know it may sound silly and people look at me like I am crazy when I make comments in regards to that. But, that is how I feel and it was nice to know that I was not the only one out there that had crazy notions regarding the fit and finish of manufactured items.
Another thing the Steve Jobs Biography did was it got me to look at the book iWoz. Which of course is the book all about Steve Wozniak. Wozniak was also a very interesting man and I feel everyone should take a look at his book as well. Very nice book indeed. He seemed almost to be Steve Job's polar opposite. After ingesting both books I actually made the comment that the two Steve's were almost like Ying and Yang. If you have a chance I would highly recommend either reading or listening to both books. I will include some links to purchase the books in this blog post.
